Douglas James brings a rare combination of precision, calm, and humour to every presentation. With extensive experience across aviation, paramedicine, education, and leadership, he specialises in helping teams think clearly and perform effectively under pressure.
Currently a Paramedic and Branch Station Officer with Ambulance Tasmania, Douglas has also worked as a First Aid Instructor, commercial and aerobatic pilot, professional ski patroller, and educator across diverse and often remote environments throughout Australia.
Holding qualifications in Paramedic Science, Business, and Education, Douglas has spent more than two decades critically analysing problems, designing practical solutions, and leading teams in complex operational settings. His engaging presentation style combines professional insight, storytelling, and humour to make even the most technical topics relevant and memorable.
Whether delivering first aid, leadership, or aviation-based training, Douglas’ focus remains the same — building composure, teamwork, and decision-making skills that keep people safe and effective in any environment.
Crew Resource Management (CRM) Training – Building Safer, Smarter Teams
Crew Resource Management (CRM) training develops the communication, decision-making, leadership, and teamwork skills essential to safe and effective operations in aviation, healthcare, emergency response, and other high-stakes environments. Rooted in aviation best practice, CRM teaches participants how to recognise and manage human factors such as situational awareness, workload, stress, and bias that can compromise performance.
Through realistic scenarios, structured debriefs, and facilitated discussion, participants learn how to share information clearly, challenge appropriately, and maintain mutual support within a team. The training highlights the importance of a just culture, assertive communication, and disciplined adherence to checklists and standard operating procedures.
By strengthening non-technical skills, CRM enhances safety, efficiency, and trust — ensuring that teams make better decisions under pressure and respond cohesively when it matters most.
